Professional Pastry Chef, Cake Artist + Business Owner

My story starts at my first ever job as a 17 year old. I was working in a grocery store bakery. I fell in love with decorating cakes and being around delicious smelling pastries all the time and knew that was the career I wanted to pursue. I worked for a good 2.5-3 years before I decided to go to post secondary because I was so afraid of taking a career path I hated. In 2019 I attended Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver’s Pastry Arts program, it was probably one of the best experiences of my life. I made life long friends and I had the best time!

Once I graduated pastry school I left my first grocery store job to work in local bakeries, then onto high end hotel work to further perfect and utilize my skills. After working full time for myself for 2 years during peak covid I decided to slide back into a grocery store (Whole Foods Market) as a member of the bakery leadership team to fine tune my leadership skills and business sense in January 2022.

January 2023 I left WFM (bittersweet as it was) to come back to my business. If there’s anything I know how to do since I started my career is how to pivot. Coming back to my business January 2023 was super jarring for me. It didn’t go as planned, my sales were way down, and not a lot of people were spending money on custom desserts. Understandably so. So what did I do? I learned a new skill and simplified my offerings as a baking business. Something had to give.

Since I’ve been passionate about beauty and makeup for as long as I could remember I decided to learn a skill within the beauty industry doing permanent makeup. This way I don’t have to give up cakes for a full time job to make ends meet and I can still be my own boss. I took a microblading course in July of 2023 and I’m now an owner of two separate businesses!

I just started working in a studio in Port Coquitlam under my new business Arch Rivals Brow Studio on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to offset my baking business. I simplified my offerings to just cakes as that’s what I’m most passionate about. Sometimes you have to work just to fund your passion!

It’s been a whirlwind of a journey so far but I’m so glad you’re here! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I hope we get the chance to work together, whether you want a custom cake or you want to come get your brows done!

Facts about me & things I love!

I love coffee & tea! Warm drinks make me so happy and I can’t start my day off without one.
I’ve recently become interested in fashion, stepping out of my comfort zone to wear things I don’t normally wear, trying new styles, colours etc. I post a lot of my outfits over on my personal instagram @kenziebullinger if you ever want to check it out!
Floral cakes are my specialty and my favourite to make.

I’m a big fan of staying in, although I love getting dressed up for a fancy dinner date night with amazing food! I’m always down for new restaurants or places to try, email me some of your favourites if you see this!! I'd really appreciate that. My boyfriend and I are the biggest foodies.
I love Harry Potter more than life itself.
The Walking Dead is my favourite TV show, I’ve been to conventions in Atlanta, Georgia twice and met the cast!
I have a soft spot for Popeyes chicken tenders. You will never catch me saying no to some Popeyes. I always want it.

My top 3 music artists are Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, & Donald Glover. I’m going to 2 Eras tour shows in December and possibly a 3rd!

My attention to detail is my biggest strength, it unfortunately coexists with me being way too hard on myself resulting in a lot of meltdowns and long hours of work. I’m working on it though!!
I love charcuterie! I could eat it for every meal… or maybe I just love cheese…
I have two puppies, Ridley & Lexie, they’re female long haired miniature dachshunds and the biggest bundles of love! Lexie is pictured!
I’m a huge fan of gold. Gold everything.
My favourite flavour of all time is probably earl grey.
My birthday is Christmas day (yes, on the day!) Always got asked if it sucked growing up. Not really! My parents thankfully kept things separate and my extended family did as well for the most part.
My favourite famous people are Emma Watson & Taylor Swift.
My hobby in high school was video editing tv shows, I actually wanted to go into film! It’s when I discovered my creative side.
I have an amazing support system between my parents, my brother, Grayson and my boyfriend, Jeremy! I don’t know what I would do without them!
